About the Academy

The Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management in Gdansk was established in 1996 by the Minister of Education (no. DSW-3-0145/TBN/96, dated January 5, 1996). The school was registered by the Ministry of Education (MEN) on June 24, 1996 under the registration number 88.

On August 20 2001, by virtue of the decision of the Minister of National Education (no. DSW-2-0145-424/ TBM/2001), the school obtained a license for running Masters programs in the field of tourism and recreation.

The founder of the Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management in Gdansk is ‘Uczelnia’ Ltd. The school is a precursory non-state owned higher education institution in Northern Poland, preparing personnel for tourism and self-governmental economy as well as trade and services.

On May 24, the Minister of the Interior and Administration approved the Academy as a unit counducting studies for the purpose of admitting foreign students to undertake or continue studies. The decision was issued for a period of 5 years.

It is an international symbol of freedom and an important forum of meetings and discussions on democracy and human rights (Lech Walesa, the Nobel Peace Prize-winning, the former President of Poland lives here).

Why is Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management in Gdansk (WSTiH) worth choosing among other higher schools?

Next to the university there are many shops, bars, restaurants, pubs and places that make spending time more pleasant.

Gdansk has always been a welcoming multicultural city. Over 3,000 foreigners, mainly from Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Norway, Sweden, China, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria and India, are currently studying at universities and colleges in Gdansk.
